Both my quilts, Winterwonderland and Descartes Highlands, Apollo 16, have been juried into Fly Me to the Moon! 

Fly Me to the Moon is An Art Quilt Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Man’s Walk on the Moon. This is a multi-faceted juried exhibition. Pieces selected will travel for the next four years. Venues TBD. Interest has been shown by several large quilt venues. Hopefully the exhibit will also be in museums and galleries and NASA facilities. Most participants are from the United States. International participants are from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom. 

The organizer Susanne Miller Jones did a lot of research and made a list of desired topics for quilts. This way there is a wide variety of quilts. The collection is made up of about 175 quilts!

My first choice was  Apollo Missions.

I found a piece of fabric depicting the landing on the moon of Apollo 16. In the end I only used a tiny strip of the fabric. It was enough to imagine the rest of the quilt. The vastness of the universe , the structure of the moon surface.

My second choice was Romantic Moon. detail of Winterwonderland A sleigh ride in the snow, freezing cold, but soooo romantic. Especially with a full moon. A castle in the background. What more could you wish for?
