Patchwork & Quiltdagen 2024

In April 2024 I had  a big exhibition at the P & Q days, the Netherlands.
I was fortunate to have 2x 20 meters of exhibition space for my coats and quilts.

This time I wanted to exhibit 20 of my coats. Which was a bit of a challenge as I don't possess 20 busts.. At the moment I was planning the exhibition I had 7 , I could borrow 3 from the organisers of the show. By accident I found 2 more secondhand, they were mens busts, but I didn't care. I remembered an exhibition of a Dutch Fiber Artist who exhibited capes flat on the wall. I decided to try it out at home and came to the conclusion it should be possible to do that as well. I made a plan on paper to see which coats and quilts should go where.

Cherrywood Challenge 2023

To my delight I won 3rd prize in the Monarch Cherrywood Challenge 2023.

Here is my quilt Monarch Sanctuary.

I used the Cherrywood fabrics bundle and a lot of black fabric paint.

The collection debuted in Houston, Texas in 2023 and travelled for 2 years through the USA.

World of Threads Festival

From October 2023 till January 2024 the World of Threads festival was held in Oakville, Canada.

It is a large Textile Art Festival with lots of exhibitions.
Something that's different about World of Threads Festival is that the curators let the art guide them. Festival curators Gareth Bate and Dawne Rudman don't have predetermined curatorial ideas or impose their concepts on the artists. Each new festival is a blank slate. Group shows develop entirely out of the submissions they receive. To find their main gallery exhibitions they look for connections, relationships and common themes among the thousands of artworks submitted. These works are made by hundreds of artists from around the world. Often artists seem to be on the same wavelength during a particular period. Over time, through many hours of sorting through artworks, the exhibition themes just emerge and become clear to them.

My dress Flora was selected for Catwalk III
